Rabat Forum: Challenges of Regional Integration in Africa

With its triple identity, Muslim, Mediterranean and African, Morocco is a unique country within the continental economic landscape.

For centuries, it was a pulse point for major trade through the Tangiers-Timbuktu route, but also a welcoming land for pilgrims from West Africa, and a docking area for wider conquests.

Morocco is discovering once again his African identity by becoming a continental economic actor, increasing significantly his commitment since late 90's, and becoming a platform for investment in Africa.

At a time when the world is facing a triple dynamic, de-globalization phenomenon, Euro crisis and Arab Spring, Africa appears as a natural growth relay.

Africa is today the most promising area for the country whose effects can only be realized through regional integration and cooperation.
